Heartwood emerged from a recognition that traditional educational settings often fall short in meeting the unique needs of neurodivergent learners.

As parents and professionals, we longed for a program that not only accommodates children, but provides a sense of community and belonging. Heartwood fills this crucial gap, offering an accessible learning experience that seamlessly integrates individualized therapeutic supports.

Nurturing Core Strength

At Heartwood, the essential components of our holistic program include individualized academic instruction, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social-emotional support through an embedded instruction model. Services are led by a special education teacher, occupational therapist, and speech-language pathologist. These components support the unique learning needs of the whole child.

Nurturing Seeds of Change

Heartwood sprouted from a simple, powerful belief: All kids are good kids.

Heartwood was born from our founders' shared experiences—both personal and professional—that illuminated the pressing need for more inclusive and supportive educational opportunities for neurodivergent learners.

‘Heartwood’ is the core of a tree, surrounded by rings representing each year of its life.

Through our supportive programs, we encourage each child to grow strong roots of belonging and acceptance, while fostering the annual rings of learning and experience that will shape their future. Here, every child finds the space to develop their inner strength and flourish in their own distinctive way.

These rings symbolize the layers of growth and learning that shape us. Our services form the nurturing environment where children develop resilience, flexibility, and a strong sense of self — their own unique heartwood.

We are excited to announce that we are creating a program for early elementary children with sensory processing, social emotional regulation, communication needs, and learning differences.
